Product feed readiness

ChatGPT Product Feed Validator

Use a local readiness check to catch basic product-data gaps before you begin a production feed workflow.

Validate a feed

What this validator checks

Catalog Signal reads a local CSV, TSV, JSON, or JSONL file in your browser. It looks for missing basic discovery fields, duplicate item IDs, URL shape, price shape, and recognized availability values.

It is designed for an early data-quality pass. Your file is not submitted to Catalog Signal or OpenAI, and this check does not test whether a URL is live or crawlable.

The nine discovery fields

OpenAI's product-feed specification describes nine basic fields for a purchasable product or variant. A validator can help make omissions obvious before your delivery workflow starts.

  • item_id
  • title
  • description
  • url
  • brand
  • seller_name
  • image_url
  • price
  • availability

Use the official specification for field-level constraints and the current delivery requirements.

Common errors worth fixing first

Start with errors that change what a shopper can understand: missing product URLs, invalid image URLs, ambiguous price values, unavailable product state, and duplicate item IDs.

Warnings can be useful too. A very short title or description may not be a schema failure, but it can leave product comparisons without enough decision-useful detail.

A passing result is not approval

A local pass means this tool did not find its basic checks failing. It does not guarantee feed acceptance, product visibility, ads eligibility, checkout availability, ranking, or a live integration.

OpenAI distinguishes discovery from additional Ads and checkout requirements. Treat those as separate implementation decisions.

Common questions

FAQ

What fields are required for discovery?

OpenAI's basic product-data specification lists item_id, title, description, url, brand, seller_name, image_url, price, and availability. Check the official document for the current rules.

Does this validator submit a feed to OpenAI?

No. Catalog Signal processes the selected file locally in your browser and does not submit it to OpenAI.

Does a passing result mean products will appear in ChatGPT?

No. A passing result only reflects this local readiness check. Eligibility and display are determined by the relevant platform and current integration requirements.
